The best quotes from Downton Abbey series 6 episode 3

From new dresses and second thoughts to overweight tyrants, bullies and snobs, the Dowager Countess, Lady Mary and co had some cracking lines in tonight's episode of Downton Abbey

There were wedding bells this week as Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes finally walked down the aisle, after fresh dramas over dresses and buttonholes.

Spratt’s stamp collecting evening was disturbed by an unwelcome visitor who almost got him in trouble with the police. And while Thomas visited another struggling stately home, Anna discovered that she might be pregnant again and Tom Branson made a surprise return to the Abbey…

Mrs Hughes prepared for her big day, but decided against buying a new frock for the occasion…

Luckily Mary was on hand to sort out a suitable outfit.

Edith headed off to London

And decided to sack her editor

While the Dowager worried about whether it was quite the done thing

Mary snipped at her mother

Baxter and the Dowager shared wise words of wisdom…

And Moseley tried to better Daisy’s future

Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes finally said ‘I do’

And Branson surprised everyone by arriving back at the Abbey unannounced
