If there’s one thing this show loves to trigger, it’s self-loathing. “Why am I such an idiot?” wails Rose Matafeo, mid-task. “What have I done?” cries Ed Gamble as he tries to glue some grapes back onto their stalks.

At one stage, we look on sadly as David Baddiel sets to work with a sledgehammer trying to smash apart a solid metal TV award – and then tries to set fire to it with lighter fuel.

It’s a pitiful sight, but these are the kind of measures comedians are driven to when Alex Horne sets them challenges. Meanwhile, the dynamic of the panel is coming along nicely: Ed’s impression of David as a 1920s Chicago gangster is a delight.
