… and we experienced again that thrill of anticipation for the long (like, seriously LONG) -awaited fourth series of Sherlock.
But it turns out we weren’t the only ones to have all the feels. Sherlock’s Amanda Abbington – who plays John Watson’s wife Mary Morstan – took to Twitter after the episode to reveal she’s just as excited as we are…

Abbington joined the BBC drama for its third series, playing former hitman Mary who kept her past under wraps when she wed John in episode two – The Sign Of Three – before she was exposed by Sherlock Holmes during the finale.

Luckily we’ve got a Sherlock special to tide us over before series four begins shooting in 2016. Set in the Victorian era with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman reprising their roles as Sherlock and Watson, the standalone episode is expected to air this Christmas or in the New Year.
