Game of Thrones stars flock to the Tower of London for series five world premiere

Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, Natalie Dormer and Mark Gatiss were all in attendance at the capital's notorious venue

The enormous cast of HBO’s Game of Thrones descended upon the Tower of London last night for the series five world premiere. Among the familiar faces ditching their warm furs and body armour for red carpet attire were Kit Harington (who plays Night’s Watch guardsman Jon Snow), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark).

As the cast strolled down the scarlet carpet, the Game of Thrones logo was beamed onto the Tower of London, meanwhile inside the party sat a replica of the series’ iconic iron throne.

As the stars of the Seven Kingdoms made their way into the screening, there were some notable omissions – Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) were absent from the line-up, although Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) skipped the red carpet but made an appearance at the after party.

Game of Thrones series five premieres on Monday 13th April at 9pm on Sky Atlantic
