Children’s TV classic Sesame street has parodied dozens of programmes over the years from Downton Abbey to Hill Street Blues – but we’ve never seen anything quite like their take on House of Cards, which relocates all the backbiting of Washington DC to a classic fairy tale.
Riffing on the Three Little Pigs story, the sketch shows Frank Underwolf (Kevin Spacey’s southern accent and side-monologues to the camera intact) determined to make his way to the White Brick House – even if that means trampling a few porcine politicos (and learning some basic maths) along the way.
It’s a lot of fun with some great references to the series, though considering the love Spacey’s Underwood bears for gnawing on pork baby back ribs, we’d hate to see what would have happened if Underwolf had actually got his hands on the little pigs. It is still a children’s series after all…
We’ll have to wait until Friday 27 February to see if the real Frank (so to speak) has any more luck with his own schemes in season three; or, as Underwolf might say: “Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose – and this time, the cards were stacked against me.”
House of Cards series 3 will arrive on Netflix on Friday 27 February
