The Wire stars Dominic West and Idris Elba to reunite for… Finding Dory

Fans of The Wire may want to hold out until Finding Omar, however…

Dominic West and Idris Elba, the stars of The Wire, are to reunite – underwater.

The actors, who were last seen facing off as detective Jimmy McNulty and criminal mastermind Stringer Bell in the American crime drama, have both been lending their voices to Finding Nemo sequel Finding Dory, West has revealed.

“I saw Idris recently,” he told Shortlist. “We’re both in the sequel to Finding Nemo, so we were recording that. I’m in pretty regular contact with a lot of guys from The Wire – a lot of them are godparents to my kids, so I love them dearly.”

It will be the first time the pair have worked together since David Simon’s cult show, which, through five seasons, explored various forms of crime in the US city of Baltimore. It has been described by many TV critics as the greatest TV drama of all time.

Finding Dory, meanwhile, will pick up one year after Pixar’s hit 2003 animation. It will focus on amnesiac fish Dory, and will explore the idea of her being reunited with her family. Along with West and Elba, the voices of Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Diane Keaton and Willem Dafoe will also feature.
