True Detective series two casting rumours are swirling furiously. Rachel McAdams is the latest star apparently in the running for the lead role in the crime drama’s next season. According to the gossip mill, she could be joining Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss and Colin Farrell… and perhaps also Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch…or maybe The Killing’s Michelle Forbes?
The truth about True Detective series two is that nobody really knows what’s going on as nothing cast-related has been confirmed. What we do know about the new season of the Emmy-winning drama is that Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson won’t be in it – and there will be three main detectives from different cities and four leading roles.
We also know from creator Nic Pizzolatto that the new series will be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”
Obviously that’s not quite enough for the fans who are clamouring to know more following last month’s announcement of an, er, announcement. Speaking at the Edinburgh International TV Festival, Lombardo said: “There are three cops. One of the characters is female. I think that’s probably all I’m allowed to say. We’ll probably be announcing casting soon.”
While this means we’re one step closer to finding out who will be taking the place of McConaughey and Harrelson, for now we’re enjoying the Twitter hashtag #TrueDetectiveSeason2 which has encouraged fans of last series’ detectives Rust Cohle and Marty Hart to make ingenious and unconventional suggestions for new cast members.
