Just days after the Tour de France zoomed through Yorkshire, the area has another event to be proud of… Last Tango in Halifax has begun shooting.
The award winning BBC1, Sally Wainwright-written drama, starring Sarah Lancashire, Derek Jacobi, Anne Reid and Nicola Walker, was filmed at Market Arcade, Borough Market and the Upstairs Downstairs Café in Halifax today.
The owner of Upstairs Downstairs Café got excited about a scene, which involved around 50-60 members of cast and crew, including Sherlock star Rupert Graves (joining the new series) and Derek Jacobi (who plays Alan in the show).
And fans snapped covert pics of the series in action outside the café:
It’s believed filming will continue throughout the week at other locations in Yorkshire.
The series, dubbed “a triumph against TV’s ageism”, won Best Drama Series in the 2013 British Academy Television Awards, it also received four nominations for the 2013 British Academy Television Awards.
Last Tango in Halifax tells the love story of two widowers, reunited after 60 years via an internet site. Season three will air in December 2014, on BBC1.
