Downton Abbey: Robert heads off to America in clip from episode seven

Lady Mary is looking after the pigs while Rose is in charge of "fun" when Robert leaves the Abbey in this Sunday's episode

Robert is leaving the comforting walls of his beloved ancestral home behind in this week’s Downton Abbey and heading to… America.

By the looks of this clip, he’s not too pleased about it – it’s fair to assume he won’t be returning with a foam hand or a Statue of Liberty hat.

Here he is heading off, wishing Mary good luck with the pigs and Edith good luck with tracking down her wayward BF Michael Gregson. Branson is put in charge of Lord Grantham’s Labrador, while Lady Rose is put in charge of fun.

Thomas does his best ventriloquist impression to set Baxter off on a spying mission. And Violet appears to be coming down with a cold.

It look as though all sorts of shenanigans are set to get underway once Robert is out of the picture. When the cat’s away, eh?
