Carey Mulligan hot favourite to play Hillary Clinton

Brit actress looks could beat Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone to lead role in much-anticipated biopic

The Great Gatsby star Carey Mulligan has emerged as a clear favourite to be cast as Hillary Clinton in an upcoming biopic entitled Rodham.

The 28-year-old Brit, who rose to public prominence in 2009 film An Education, is expected to have a meeting with director James Ponsoldt in the near future, but it is understood other actresses are still being considered for the role, according to THR.

Scripted by Young Il Kim, Rodham is causing quite a buzz in Hollywood and it is understood a number of high profile actresses are being considered for the role, including Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone.

Mulligan, who has recently appeared in films such as Shame, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Drive and Never Let Me Go, will next be seen on screen opposite Justin Timberlake in the Coen brothers’ latest movie, Inside Llewyn Davis.
