World Without End, a sequel to the hit historical drama The Pillars of the Earth, is coming to Channel 4 this weekend.
Set 150 years after The Pillars of the Earth, and based on another bestselling novel by Ken Follett, the series follows the inhabitants of Kingsbridge during the 1300s.
Starring Cynthia Nixon, Miranda Richardson, Ben Chaplin, Peter Firth and Tom Weston-Jones, World Without End is set after the King is killed at the orders of his wife and their son installed on the throne. As the Hundred Years War, the black death and political turmoil play out in the background, Caris, a young apprentice played by Wuthering Heights star Charlotte Riley, begins a passionate love affair that will affect the future of Kingsbridge.
World Without End starts Saturday 12 January at 9:00pm on Channel 4
