Episode 2: Episode 2

Summary

Comedy series starring Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont as they offer a fictional view of their life together. Jon is given career advice from his comedy hero, Jack Dee. Meanwhile, Lucy signs Jon up to be the celebrity judge at the World Dock Pudding Competition in Hebden Bridge

Review

Lucy Beaumont and Jon Richardson’s marriage mockumentary has a sharpness to it, like the tartest of sherbet lemons. “The longer we’re married, the less she seems to know me,” grumbles Jon, as she dragoons him into judging a competition in their Yorkshire village. “She knows I don’t like people,” he sighs.” And she knows I don’t like things. But she constantly makes me do things. With people.” Nobody delivers this kind of miserabilism better than Richardson, and the format plays to his gloom.

This week, Lucy worries that Jon fancies Susie Dent from Eight out of Ten Cats Does Countdown. Dent does a cameo as herself, proving more convincing than Jack Dee.
