Matthew and Mary reunite as Downton Abbey cast celebrate six series of the period drama

Michelle Dockery, Dan Stevens and Allen Leech posed for photographers as characters past and present walked the Bafta red carpet

It’s not quite the romantic reunion fans one day hoped for, but Matthew and Mary Crawley have got back together (sort of…)

Michelle Dockery and Dan Stevens were reunited on the red carpet in London last night, as Downton Abbey stars past and present turned out to celebrate the show.

Familiar faces such as Zoe Boyle, aka ill-fated Lavinia Swire, MyAnna Buring and Cara Theobald were also in attendance, alongside long-running cast members Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Phyllis Logan, Jim Carter, Lesley Nicol, Penelope Wilton and Sophie McShera. 

The hit period drama’s youngest stars also made appearances on the red carpet. Laura Carmichael posed for pictures with the twins who plays Marigold, while Fifi Hart (Sybbie) smiled for the cameras with co-stars Allen Leech and Raquel Cassidy.

Dockery also stopped for a few snaps while holding hands with Oliver and Zac Barker, who play Lady Mary and Matthew’s son George.

All the cast members in attendance also took to the stage together when Julie Walters presented the show with a special award. The star-studded event was put on by Bafta to pay tribute to the drama as it enters its sixth and final season on ITV. The tribute will be televised later this year.
