There’s method acting and then there’s… well, this. Jamie Dornan has admitted to engaging in some rather creepy behaviour while preparing to play serial killer Paul Spector in BBC2’s The Fall.
The Fifty Shades star, who has been doing some press in the US, has revealed how he took unusual measures to get inside the head of his psychotic serial killer by actually trying to stalk someone.
“The first series, I did do a couple of things to try to get inside [his mind]. On the tube, which is our underground system… Can we get arrested for this? Hold on … this is a really bad reveal: I, like, followed a woman off the train one day to see what it felt like to pursue someone like that,” he admitted to the Los Angeles Times.
It’s worth noting that Dornan kept his distance from the woman, and only followed her “around a couple of street corners,” but it seems the experience wasn’t as bad as you might think.
“It felt kind of exciting, in a really sort of dirty way,” he said, adding that he is “not proud of myself.”
“I do honestly think I learned something from it, because I’ve obviously never done any of that,” he concluded. “It was intriguing and interesting to enter that process of ‘what are you following her for?’ and ‘what are you trying to find out?”
The Fall will return for a third series on BBC2
