It’s finally happened – the moment fans thought would never come. After its shock axing by the BBC last December, Ripper Street series three launched tonight on Amazon Prime Instant Video with a double bill of episodes. And it wasn’t one for the faint-hearted, from epic train crashes and lost limbs to that gory moment at the end of episode two.

It was certainly intense, as Bennet Drake returned to H Division as an Inspector, Edmund Reid buried his nose in his books and Homer Jackson dusted off his medical kit after a four-year absence from the force.

Now, it’s no secret that the series has a mobilised and engaged fan base – we heard from you in your droves as you voted Ripper Street your Radio Times show of 2013 – so, what did you think of Friday’s finished product?

Was it just as you imagined? Or were you hoping for more gore? More bromance?

Were you shocked to see who was the guilty party behind the trains’ collision? And what do you think of the new characters Mimi (played by Lydia Wilson) and Amelia (Louise Brealey)?

We want to know your thoughts so take a moment and post your reviews in the comments box below…
