Courtroom drama Silk returned for its third series tonight and was packed to the rafters with action setting up what’s to come.
Are QCs Martha Costello (Maxine Peake) and Clive Reader (Rupert Penry-Jones) actually going to get together? Will Senior Clerk Billy Lamb (Neil Stuke) tell anyone he’s undergoing prostate cancer? Who is Harriet Hammond (Miranda Raison) and how will she upset the ranks at Shoe Lane..?
Writer Peter Moffat didn’t shy away from the big legal cases in this first episode either. Martha, who had been busy trying to drown and dance her sorrows away after losing a case, found herself defending the head of chambers’ son for attacking a policeman.
“You and the Old Bill toe-to-toe at the Old Bailey? They should sell tickets,” quipped Clive.
So what did you think? Ticket worthy, or more of the same courtroom antics?
