Fifty Shades: The Fall’s Jamie Dornan is cast as new Christian Grey

The star of the BBC2 crime drama is set to replace Charlie Hunnam as EL James' sex-obsessed millionaire

Fifty Shades fans, the wait is over. Again.

British model turned actor Jamie Dornan has been chosen as the new Christian Grey.

The 31-year-old from Northern Ireland will replace Charlie Hunnam as the S&M-loving businessman in the big screen adaptation of EL James’ Fifty Shades of Grey, according to The Hollywood Reporter

Dornan, who will act opposite Datoka Johnson’s Anastasia Steele, played a fetishistic serial killer in BBC2’s recent thriller The Fall, and starred in Sophia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette and US series Once Upon a Time. The former Calvin Klein model is also known for having dated Keira Knightley.

Hunnam decided to leave the steamy movie earlier this month just weeks after being cast, citing his “immersive TV schedule” as the reason for his departure.

The Fifty Shades of Grey film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and has been adapted for the screen by Kelly Marcel.

EL James’s internationally bestselling erotic trilogy, which also includes Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, follows the relationship between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, and their increasingly x-rated bedroom exploits.

The film is expected to hit cinemas in summer 2014
