Sean Pertwee has joined the cast of US Sherlock Holmes update Elementary as Lestrade.
The Dog Soldiers actor is the latest in a string of British stars cast in the series, including Rhys Ifans as Mycroft, Natalie Dormer in the dual role of Irene Adler and Moriarty, Vinnie Jones as Moriarty’s henchman Sebastian Moran, and Jonny Lee Miller who stars as the detective himself.
Pertwee tweeted the news that he will play the Scotland Yard inspector, confirming that he will be filming in both London and New York.
He later went on to thank his 3,000 Twitter followers for their support following the casting announcement which has since been confirmed by CBS.
It is not the first time Sean – who is the son of Doctor Who actor Jon Pertwee – has worked with Ifans and Miller after all three actors appeared together in British film Love, Honor and Obey, a project that also featured Jude Law who plays Dr John Watson in the silver screen adaptations of Arthur Conan Doyle’s fictional creation.
The Elementary season two premiere – which has been filming in the capital over the last month – sees Sherlock called to London where he and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) stay with his brother, Mycroft, while they investigate an old case.
