Hit cops-and-courtroom drama Law & Order: UK is to return for a seventh series on Sunday 14 July at 9pm on ITV.
Former Coronation Street and Casualty actress Georgia Taylor will join the show as defence barrister turned crown prosecutor Kate Barker, while Peep Show’s Paterson Joseph will play the newly appointed DI Wes Leyton.
Bradley Walsh, Paul Nicholls, Dominic Rowan and Peter Davison will all return for the six episodes, which finds the police and the CPS dealing with the aftermath of a devastating train crash, plus cases involving kidnap and child-grooming. Former regular cast members Freema Agyeman and Harriet Walter have both departed the cast due to other filming commitments.
Jane Hudson, series producer, said of the new run: “In this series we deal with a lot of crime committed by people you really wouldn’t suspect. What seems like an ordinary family turns out to be the complete opposite with some extraordinary outcomes. There’s certainly something for everyone with a few familiar faces joining us along the way.”
Among the guest stars set to feature are Patrick Baladi, Jan Francis, Ramon Tikaram, Daniel Casey and Glynis Barber.
The last series of Law & Order: UK, which aired in early 2012, consistently pulled in an audience of more than 5 million viewers for each of its seven episodes.
