The Bible, a US mini-series dramatising the Bible’s most famous tales, is coming to Channel 5.
The 10-part religious series became a surprise hit when it aired on History in America earlier this year, drawing in over 13 million viewers and beating US favourite American Idol in the ratings.
The Bible is a big action production which uses state of the art CGI to help tell stories including Genesis, Noah’s Ark and the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus.
The channel will air the US mini-series, which is created by The Apprentice’s Mark Burnett, this autumn.
Acquisitions and Channel Manager of Channel 5, Marie-Claire Dunlop, said securing the rights to The Bible was “incredibly exciting”, going on to say: “The show has been nothing short of a sensation, watched by millions of people in the states… these are stories that can’t fail to draw you in.”
