Endeavour, the drama that chronicles the adventures of a youthful Inspector Morse, returns to ITV later this month, and you can watch a clip of the show’s first multi-part series below.
Starring Silk’s Shaun Evans as DC Endeavour Morse and the gloriously well-spoken stage actor Roger Allam as DI Fred Thursday, Endeavour’s first proper season will consist of four episodes written by the show’s creator Russell Lewis.
In addition to Evans and Allam, the series will also feature appearances from original Morse star John Thaw’s daughter Abigail Thaw, James Bradshaw, Anton Lester and Jack Lesley.
The first feature-length standalone episode of Endeavour was broadcast in January 2012 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Inspector Morse and seen by an average of 6.1m viewers.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com in January, Evans said that there would plenty of “seedy elements” in the show’s new series to compel viewers to tune in en masse again for the new run.
“We have to do our absolute best to offer more than what’s gone before. Otherwise, what’s the point?” he said. “Morse is seedier in the books. I feel we should be bringing more of those elements into Endeavour. I really like that slightly unwholesome quality.”
Endeavour’s new series will get under way on ITV on Sunday 14 April at 8:00pm. Here’s the clip:
