John Simm and Maxine Peake star in BBC1 drama The Village, which starts on Easter Sunday.
The Village charts the events of the 20th century by following one rural English village as political events, wars and social change shape the community.
Opening in the present day, the series tells the story of the last hundred years through the eyes of Bert Middleton as he looks back his history, jumping to 1914, when Bert was 12, with the arrival of the first bus ever to stop in the village…
Simm and Peake play the heads of poor farming family, struggling to keep afloat in the harsh landscape of rural Derbyshire. The Village is written by Peter Moffat and also stars Nico Mirallegro, Bill Jones, David Ryall, Charlie Murphy, Juliet Stevenson, Augustus Prew, Emily Beecham and Rupert Evans.
The Village starts on Easter Day at 9:00pm on BBC1
