Merlin actress Katie McGrath has joined the cast of Sky Living’s Dracula.
The 29-year-old star, who played evil sorceress Morgana in the BBC1 drama, will be joining Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jessica De Gouw and Nonso Anozie in the dark Dracula adaptation, which will air on Sky Living later this year.
McGrath is set to play Lucy Westenra, an “aristocratic… sexy, social butterfly who has a penchant for gossip, flirting and all things glamorous.” Sky Living have revealed that her characer, who is the best friend of Dracula’s muse Mina Murray, will become “entwined in a web of lies, lust and temptation” during the course of the much-anticipated series.
Game of Thrones’ Nonso Anozie has also been cast as R. M. Renfield, Dracula’s loyal confidante. Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who shot to fame as Henry VIII in racy BBC drama The Tudors, is set to star as Dracula, while Jessica De Gouw has been cast as Mina.
Sky Living’s drama series will see Dracula reappear in Victorian London, posing as an American entrepreneur, to seek revenge on those who sought to destroy him centuries earlier. The drama will air later this year.
