Nigel Farage is to take a seat on Steph and Dom's sofa in a spin-off of Channel 4's hit show Gogglebox, RadioTimes.com can reveal.

At Home with Dom and Steph will include a section in which the UKIP leader chews the fat and enjoys a few drinks with Steph and Dom Parker, the show's “posh couple”.

Scheduled for next year it will be a “rip-roaring, alcohol-fuelled watch,” according to Channel 4’s chief creative officer Jay Hunt.

“He gets p****d with them, but they also give him a grilling,” Hunt tells this week’s Radio Times.

The Parkers run a bed and breakfast in their Grade I listed home in Kent, which is located in the constituency of South Thanet where Farage will be standing in his bid to become an MP in the 2015 General Election.

The hugely popular, Bafta award-winning series Gogglebox features people from different walks of life sitting in their living rooms, commenting – often hilariously – on what they’re watching. Steph and Dom are among the most popular of its unlikely stars, renowned for enjoying a tipple while they watch television and for over-indulging from time to time.

Adds Hunt: “We have found in Gogglebox an array of characters that people have taken into their hearts – they just love them. Gogglebox is my take on the week. We have a show that feels unmissable.”

“It’s a uniquely Channel 4 story. Gogglebox started as a little show that didn’t deserve to be recommissioned, quite frankly, but we moved it in the schedule, it grew and is now a huge hit.”
