They were once the dysfunctional IT Department that no one could seem to turn off (and on again). For now, though, the cast have gone their separate ways. As Richard Ayoade takes over from Stephen Fry as Channel 4's Gadget Man (tonight at 8:30pm), we find out what exactly the IT Crowd are up to now...
Richard Ayoade (Maurice Moss)
Is the new presenter of C4's technology series Gadget Man, taking over from the voluble Stephen Fry. Tonight he goes on a gadget-fuelled camping trip with actor Stephen Mangan.
Alaso an accomplished filmmaker, Ayoade has recently written and directed comedy drama The Double, which stars The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska and will have its premier in September at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Ayoade's days as uber-geek Maurice "Moss" Moss aren't over, however: he has reunited with the rest of the cast and writer Graham Linehan for a one-off IT Crowd special, due to be broadcast in October this year.
Chris O'Dowd (Roy Trenneman)
Has been very busy since the final series of The IT Crowd ended in 2010, mainly thanks to his breakout role in smash romcom Bridesmaids. O'Dowd also appeared in American TV comedy-drama series Girls, and his most recent small-screen comedy Family Tree concludes on BBC2 on Tuesday 3 September. As well as The IT Crowd special, O'Dowd will be returning this year with a new series of his Sky1 coming-of-age sitcom Moone Boy.
Katherine Parkinson (Jen Barber)
Became the prying tabloid journalist Kitty Riley in The Reichenbach Fall, the dramatic series two finale of Sherlock. Parkinson is now filming BBC2 Middle Eastern thriller The Honourable Woman alongside Maggie Gyllenhaal, which is due to air in 2014.
Matt Berry (Douglas Reynholm)
Currently working on a full series of surreal new C4 sitcom Toast of London. The pilot, about an eccentric actor who spends more time dealing with problems off stage than performing on it, was listed in Radio Times' Top 40 Shows of 2012.
