Live coverage of this event has now concluded

Hello and welcome to another Hawkeye live blog!

Just like last week, we'll spend today's live review following along with every twist, turn and unlikely archery shot as they happen in the latest episode of Marvel's Hawkeye, kicking off when episode four becomes available to view on Disney Plus (that's 8:00AM GMT, alarm clock owners).

Check here for our instant reaction to the episode, latest theories and analysis and all the other good stuff you could just get from following the hashtag on Twitter. But hey, this is way longer and probably trickier to read, so why go anywhere else?

If you're bored and waiting, check out last week's live review of Hawkeye episode three, our guide to bowman's best friend (aka Pizza Dog) and our breakdown of those Kingpin clues that have the internet in a frenzy.

  • Goodbyes

And that's it for this week's live blog/review! As I say, another fun episode that I enjoyed a lot. I am intrigued to see whether they can wrap everything up in the next two episodes (at the moment, they're still introducing new plotlines!) and whether Clint gives that woman her bag back, but I'm cautiously optimistic for now.

Well, about the first bit. There's no way that police officer is ever seeing her bombshell bag again.

    See you next week!

  • Kingpin (again)

Some fans are also disappointed Kingpin didn't turn up. Understandable.

  • Fan reactions

Predictably, a lot of fans are losing their minds over Florence Pugh's MCU return. Also worth noting - Yelena now has a braid just like her big sister. Awwww.

People have also noted the parallel between Kate's fall off the building, held on by a grapple and Natasha's on Vormir. I did clock this - easy to see why that was the moment that made Clint try to get her out of harm's way.

  • Stray thoughts

OK, this is now the point where I need to see what everyone else is saying about the episode on Twitter, in case I missed anything.

Full disclosure - I missed quite a lot last week. My bad! It's difficult to write and watch at the same time.

  • Oh, also...

Who's keeping tabs on Clint's family? Presumably Maya, based on the fact that it was her apartment. Very creepy - and looks like the kids and Laura might end up more directly involved in this story than they had hoped.

  • Looking ahead

I know I'm a broken record, but next week looks likely for the arrival of Kingpin, plus plenty more sparring action with Yelena and Maya/Echo.

Somehow, we only have two episodes left and there's a lot still to cover. With that in mind, we can probably expect some fireworks going ahead. Exciting!

  • Reflections

Another fun episode - I've been enjoying this series much more after the first two weeks. Some decent action, obviously Yelena's arrival is a big moment and some fun character stuff too.

Still no sign of Kingpin, of course, but it certainly looks like we're heading in that direction. And I also have my suspicions about Kate's mother. Just who did Eleanor ring up in this week's episode?

And #JusticeForJack. I've decided I like him now. Hope he's not a baddie after all.

  • Roll credits

    And that's the end!

  • You're not my partner

Clint thinks things have gotten too real. He wants Kate out of there - he tells her to go home, it's over. Someone has sent a Black Widow assassin after him, and it's too much for her to handle.

  • Four-way battle

Hawkeye and Kate vs Yelena and Maya, not necessarily in that combination. Very fun. Clint noted Yelena using one of the Black Widow gadgets.

Anyway he tried to get rid of Kate to keep her safe, but she came back and used a handy sonic arrow to stop the fight for a few minutes.

Oh wow it's Florence Pugh...who saw that coming...except anyone who watched the Black Widow post-credits scene.

  • Uh-oh...

The lights were a silent alarm! It was Maya's apartment, and she's there fighting Kate.

Clint thinks she's out there fighting him, but that's actually Yelena I bet.

Also, someone is there taking notes on Clint's family. Creepy.

  • Kate's break-in

Hawkeye has a complicated break-in plan...Kate took the lift instead. To each their own.

"What do you do with this giant bow problem?"

The director of some episodes this series, Rhys Thomas, told me this was a real issue when making the series - they just have to carry bows everywhere.

Anyway Kate did some quick shooting of weird strobe lights. Anyway she has the watch now. I see a twist coming...

  • LARPer fun

For some reason, the LARPers are at Kate and Clint's safehouse apartment. Kate's mission went a little askew.

Love the bag detail. Why would she give up her bag? I'd be annoyed by that!

Anyway they're looking for the stolen rolex.

  • Hawkeye vs Kazi

"You know what Maya's boss wants...and you know what he's already done to get it." Kingpin!

Anyway Hawkeye is trying to sow some discord, get Maya's lieutenant to talk her out of her Ronin obsession.

  • Flashbacks!

To when Clint lost his family, and when Natasha brought him back, then sacrificed himself. Poor old murderous Hawkeye.

Hawkeye is sending Kate on busywork, to track down the trick arrows via the LARPers. To be fair, it's the sort of thing she might enjoy.

  • Ronin

Kate realises Hawkeye was Ronin during the blip - he's disillusioning her, says he was always trained to kill. He's no hero.

"I was a weapon" - in the Matt Fraction comics, the first run was called My Life as a Weapon.

  • More Black Widow memories

Clint says the best shot he ever took was the one he couldn't take. And it was when he was sent to kill Black Widow. Sad memories!

With all these reminders, surely we're building to a Yelena reveal.

"When you do what I do for a living, it's a game of managing loss."

  • Bad Jack

"We're going to have to find a way to take down my mom's fiancé's organised crime ring, and have a heartwarming Christmas celebration."

That's basically the premise of Hawkeye, no?

I'm enjoying the little references to the comic, like the boomerang arrows - they come back to you. And the coin flicking (which in the Matt Fraction run he tries to use to smash beer bottles).

  • Risk

Speaking of risk...I'm not sure Eleanor's warning about Natasha quite applies her. She sacrificed herself in a weird alien parlour game to get her hands on a magic stone...not in fighting the mafia.

  • Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

I actually kind of hope Jack is just a lovely guy who's into swords. He's sort of fun! This is why I think her mother is the evil one.

  • Who is Eleanor calling?

Yes, I had forgotten her name and was just calling her Vera Farmiga. I think she might be the secret villain.

Anyway sounds like Jack is CEO of the tracksuit mafia shell company, but that's probably a misdirect. And there's another reference to the "big guy" in charge of it all.

And Laura has clocked the missing rolex. What could it all mean?

  • Ouch

"Being good isn't always enough to keep you alive."

Ouch! Can't believe Vera Farmiga went there with Natasha. Harsh. Good little reminder if this is the episode where Yelena turns up.

And of course, he nabbed the Ronin sword.

  • Tension ended

OK, Jack isn't going to fight Clint...yet. Instead they have to explain whatever their deal is to Kate's mum and future stepdad. Think I'd prefer the fight.

Jack is so oily. I love it.

Clint has clocked the Ronin sword that Jack stole...maybe he'll see Kate's point now.

  • What did they steal?

Weird, I forgot the bad guys were looking for a specific Avengers watch. What's that all about? Was it one of the time travel things from Endgame?

  • The episode is live!

OK, let's get streaming. First, recap time.

  • What about Yelena?

One confirmed rumour is that Black Widow's Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh, right) is set to turn up in this series looking for revenge on Clint (remember, she blames him for her sister Natasha's death in Avengers: Endgame).

So far, it's hard to see how she's fit into the more grounded world of Hawkeye, but she has to turn up at some point. Maybe it'll be this week!

  • Where's Kingpin?

Also this week - could we be seeing the return of Kingpin, aka Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk?

While it's not quite at Andrew Garfield/Tobey Maguire levels yet, fans are convinced that the crime boss last seen in Netflix's Daredevil series might be making his debut in the MCU proper, after a few leaks and rumours placed him as Hawkeye's Big Bad.

Last week's episode didn't do anything to dispel those rumours. In fact, it added fuel to the fire, emphasising Echo's mysterious crime lord "uncle" who we see in flashback as a large, suited man who strokes her on the cheek. And was it me, or did his chuckle seem awfully familiar?

Anyway, the internet messageboards are expecting him to turn up in episode five, but who knows - maybe Christmas will come early for Marvel fans this week.

  • Welcome back!

Hello and welcome to another of these review/live blog/live recap thingies for Hawkeye episode four.

Last week was (I think) a better episode full of great action, intriguing backstory (nice to meet Alaqua Cox's Echo) and some honest-to-goodness trick archery.

This week, based on preview clips it looks like Kate will have to introduce Clint to her mother and Jacques, even though she's investigating the latter for murder. It can be tricky with family at Christmas, eh?
