First look at Downton Abbey series 6 finale: Why are they in a graveyard?!

There are shocks, surprises, romantic reunions, wobbly bottom lips and trips to the graveyard as Downton Abbey prepares to say farewell for the final ever time

Can you believe we are here already? Just two instalments of our favourite period drama stand between us and the terrible, awful, barren landscape that is post-Downton TV.

This weekend sees the final episode of Downton’s sixth series and it looks as though there are plenty of shocks in store before the credits roll. Despite his tear-soaked break up with Mary, Henry Talbot is back on the scene, while Edith and Bertie cosy up at the Abbey. There’s trouble ahead for Mrs Patmore while Moseley is poised to pack his bags and leave service behind for good. And the Crawley children? Well they appear to be playing in the Downton church graveyard, which we are hoping and praying has absolutely nothing to do with a funeral…

Once Sunday’s episode is done and dusted all we’ve got left is the Christmas special. So handkerchiefs at the ready, old chaps. The long goodbye starts here…

Downton Abbey series 6 concludes on Sunday at 9:00pm on ITV
