Sparks fly in this edition. The key to this panel show is Greg Davies cracking a comedy whip over contestants while marking their efforts like the world’s most scathing schoolmaster. Now, though, they fight back.
“This is demeaning!” cries James Acaster at one point, getting what appears to be genuinely worked up by the frustrations of serving the Taskmaster’s whim, “Give me eight weeks of my life back! How does that sound?”
But it’s Rhod Gilbert who, via his friendship with Davies, has the key to really unsettling him. One sight gag involving a picture of Davies’s mother in the bath produces what may be the best and funniest moment of the series so far.
