Just two months after broadcasting The Paedophile Hunter, Channel 4 has announced a raft of controversial documentaries.
Sex Party Secrets, a programme about prison weddings in the US titled Married Behind Bars and another about Europe’s largest legal brothel are among the new shows coming to our screens in 2015.
They will be joined by America’s Youngest Sex Offenders and America’s Youngest Violent Criminals, two shows the broadcaster has made using “unprecedented access” to a juvenile correctional facility in Indiana.
Anna Miralis, commissioning editor for documentaries at Channel 4, said the programmes will secure “brilliant access to bold singular stories, which reveal jaw-dropping actuality of worlds that we never normally see.”
This year Channel 4’s factual department has won 24 awards for programming including one International Emmy and two Baftas.
The Paedophile Hunter, broadcast in October, attracted particular attention for its grim portrayal of vigilante Stinson Hunter who poses as underage children on adult networking sites to trap men before exposing them online.
