Lady Edith is about to get more bad news in Downton Abbey

Things are going from bad to worse for the Crawley sister, as news arrives from Germany...

If you thought Lady Edith was having a tough time of it lately, brace yourself. Mary’s younger sister is poised for even more heartbreak this week.

Over the last five episodes Edith has been concealing her secret child from the Crawleys by arranging to have her live with farmer Mr Drewe. The arrangement didn’t quite to go plan though, as her frequent visits riled Mrs Drewe, who last week banned her from visiting the little girl at all.

Episode six, though, is set to bring more distress to Edith, as news arrives from Germany regarding her lover, and the father of little Marigold, Michael Gregson, who has been missing for over a year.

A telegram arrives for Edith in the opening minutes of the episode, saying that her editor is on his way to talk to her.

We won’t tell you the nature of the news, though according to Carson, if it’s good, he would have just used the telephone…
