Our favourite Wildcats graduated five (yes, five!) long years ago but they’re busy plotting a special one-off reunion…
Organised by Monique Coleman, who played nerdy Taylor McKessie in the hit Disney trilogy, the young cast members will come together once again for a High School Musical party to raise money for Coleman’s foundation, GimmeMo’.
Vanessa Hudgens (who played Gabriella Montez), Ashley Tisdale (Sharpay Evans), Corbin Bleu (Chad Danforth) and Lucas Grabeel (Ryan Evans) are all confirmed to be attending, along with the trilogy’s director, Kenny Ortega.
The High School Musical franchise first began in 2006 with the Disney Channel’s hit movie which followed the students at Albuquerque’s fictional East High School and spawned two sequels. The trilogy concluded in October 2008 with High School Musical 3 and made stars of its young, musical cast, many of whom have since pursued careers in the movie industry.
The reunion is a one-off, private bash, but the good news is Coleman is hosting a competition for one fan to be flown to LA and attend. The bad news is it doesn’t look like lead actor Zac Efron will be joining his former castmates due to a busy work schedule. However the 26-year-old, who played popular Troy Bolton, has promised a “special surprise” for the winner of Coleman’s competition.
In the meantime, the graduates of Albuquerque’s East High School have been busily hyping up their reunion on Twitter…
