Jeff Bridges “underwhelmed” by his own new film R.I.P.D

The star is is brutally honest about his latest big-screen vehicle. "For my mind, the studio made some choices that I wouldn't have made"

Most actors play the PR game. Ahead of their next big release you hear plenty about the lovely cast, the amazing costumes, the incredible script. But not Jeff Bridges. His approach to promoting his new movie R.I.P.D has been good old fashioned honesty.

In a recent interview with GQ to promote the supernatural cop comedy, the actor started off full of praise for the project in which he co-stars with Ryan Reynolds. “I had such a great time working on that movie. I remember what we were doing. I thought: ‘This could be fun to see.'”

But then he continued, “And when I saw it, I was a little underwhelmed. For my mind, the studio made some choices that I wouldn’t have made.

“It’s kind of fun when the movie’s coming out. It’s like having a horse in the race. And they’re lining up, and they’re off! And you’re rooting for your horse. And in this case, the jockey fell off the horse and you came in last.”

Don’t hold back, Jeff. It’s worth remembering that the film – which also stars Kevin Bacon and Mary Louise Parker – isn’t released in the UK until 20 September, and Bridges’ remarks aren’t exactly a glowing advert…
