Celebrities on song for Children in Need

Peter Andre and Sugababes among the stars set to guest in West End musicals

Peter Andre, Melanie C, Stacey Solomon and the Sugababes are doing their bit for charity Children in Need later this month with POP Goes the Musical. The stars will each be performing a hit song at the curtain calls of four London musicals.

X Factor’s Stacey gets the show on the road on 10 September, playing good witch Glinda to Rachel Tucker’s Elphaba in Wicked. They’ll be hoping for a magical duet as they join forces on “For Good”.

Melanie C, no stranger to the West End stage – she won an Olivier Award nomination in 2010 as best actress in a musical for her performance in Blood Brothers – will be adding some spice to Queen hits We Are the Champions and We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre on 13 September.

Next day, pop star Peter Andre will put in an appearance in Ghost the Musical as Sam Wheat – the role made famous on celluloid by Patrick Swayze – singing Unchained Melody.

Girl band Sugababes bring the curtain down on the charity mini-season on 15 September, performing “Dancing Queen” in Mamma Mia!.
