The Great British Bake Off to have two Christmas specials this year

Channel 4 are giving us double helpings of the show after it debuts later this year

What’s better than a Christmas special of The Great British Bake Off? The answer: two Christmas specials of The Great British Bake Off, of course.

After debuting on Channel 4 later this year, Christmas will see two hour-long festive episodes of GBBO with the new-look line-up of Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig.

Whether the show will feature celebrities or members of the public remains to be seen.

One thing’s for sure – the prospect of Christmas without Mary Berry feels like December 25th without novelty jumpers, crackers or a turkey.

Fans of the show, which was poached from BBC1 in a reported £75 million deal with Channel 4, were largely unimpressed when the first picture of the revamped line-up was revealed in April.

One viewer went so far as to say she was “absolutely devastated” by the change in presenters and judges.

Well, the proof of the Christmas pudding will certainly be in the watching.
