David Walliams’s Golden Buzzer act was always going to be interesting and singer Christian Spridon is certainly that.
“God only knows who he’ll press his for,” Simon joked to RadioTimes.com during the auditions, as David admitted he was looking for an act “only I like”.
And while Christian appeared to have the crowd behind him, blasting out his rendition of Sex Bomb, judges Alesha Dixon, Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden were jostling to press David’s red buzzer and end the audition.
Having failed to fight the other judges off – even sitting on all fours over his red buzzer to protect it – David gave up and slammed down on his Golden Buzzer instead.
And with that, Christian skips the rest of the auditions and earns a spot in the live semi-finals.
Here he is in action on Saturday night's show:
David told us he’d never push his button for an act the crowd didn’t like too: “I know that would really annoy Simon." And the crowd certainly seemed to take to Christian.
Simon, not so much.
“What the bloody hell did you do that for? I’m not being rude Christian, but the act was appalling.”
Not that that kind of criticism appears to keep Christian down. He auditioned for last year’s X Factor. In his pants no less (and no more). Judge Sharon Osbourne joined in with his odd rendition of Kylie’s Can’t Get You Out of My Head and even called him “fabulous”.
Can he win this year’s BGT and perform at the Royal Variety show? Well, now he’s in the live semi-finals, viewers get a say in that. So, over to you!
Britain's Got Talent first round auditions continue this Saturday at 7pm on ITV
