The Sky Living sitcom Gates is to be remade in the US, RadioTimes.com can confirm.

The comedy, which aired on Sky Living this August, followed the playground politics that parents and teachers face on the twice daily school run. Alongside Joanna Page of Gavin & Stacey fame, it starred former EastEnder and Miranda actor Tom Ellis as well as The Royle Family’s Sue Johnston.

Whilst there is no news yet on whether Sky Living will be making a second series of the series, it seems that the US remake is gathering pace with network giants NBC.  They have confirmed that work on a pilot is underway with The King Of Queens producers Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith on board to write and produce. Laurence Bowen and Phillip Clarke who are behind the British original will also work on its US counterpart.

The pilot order is a further sign that NBC are fast-tracking the production of Gates, which it is understood was the subject of an intense bidding war between the major networks when it came to market in August.
