There are just four The Masked Dancer contestants left in the competition and by all means it looks like it's Carwash's title to lose.

The funky costume has been flipping and doing tricks all over the competition, but will they be able to claim the title?

However, the question on everyone's lips is who's behind the mask.

Viewers really aren't convinced on any celebrity just yet, but Louis Smith, Matt Baker and Twist and Pulse seem to be the front-runners.

The Masked Dancer theories

Is Carwash Matt Baker?

Matt Baker

Matt Baker might be one of the more sensible guesses made by The Masked Dancer judges. The former gymnast could certainly flip and do many tricks back in the day, but Matt's sporting past isn't the only clue that lines up. In the semi-final, we found out Carwash has gone "from one show to the next", possibly alluding to Matt's long stint on The One Show.

Is Carwash Twist and Pulse?

A late theory to emerge about The Masked Dancer contestant Carwash involves BGT superstars, Twist and Pulse. The dance-duo are certainly very talented and could pull off the very impressive flips and moves Carwash has become known for, but there are two clues in particular which point to them.

Firstly, Carwash's red and blue costume has been highly debated, with many assuming this was a nod to West Ham's football kit. However, Twist and Pulse have always worn those two colours in every performance. Another clue hinted at them being a part of a double act... but is it Twist or Pulse under the mask?

Is Carwash Jay McGuiness?

Oti is convinced The Wanted's Jay McGuiness is behind the mask. Jay ticks a lot of the boxes and he won Strictly Come Dancing back in 2015, so we know he's got the moves. And fans are with the Strictly pro on this one. Jay, is that you?

Is Carwash Rio Ferdinand?

Davina McCall thinks The Masked Dancer's Carwash could be Rio Ferdinand. Ferdinand used to play for West Ham United during his football career, so that could link to the blue and red colours as well as the "blowing bubbles" clues.

Carwash also said they're quite "shy" during Two Lies and a Truth, which McCall thinks is a tell tale sign its the football pundit.

Is Carwash Jason Orange?

Take That fans think they've spotted a big clue which proves singer Jason Orange is the show's Carwash.

During Carwash's debut performance, viewers picked up that the character was using orange buckets.

"I thought Jason Orange because of the orange buckets," one said.

"There was an orange bucket on the video so I'm going for Jason Orange," said another.

Is Carwash Matt Willis?

Is Carwash Matt Willis?

Musician Matt Willis is another name who has been suggested when it comes to the show's Carwash. One fan went out of their way to tweet the Busted member, asking: "@mattjwillis are you carwash on the masked dancer ???? Xxx."

Carwash held up a sign saying: "Jet wash is currently busted" which could be a reference to the pop group, and last year, Willis hinted he could be taking part in a show which involves dancing in the future.

Speaking on the Privates Parts podcast, he said: "They’ll be some sort of dancing show in my future, I am sure. Not this year, but it’s a given isn’t it? At some point."

He could well be talking about Strictly Come Dancing, but it'd be silly of us to ignore this!

Is Carwash Howard Donald?

Three members of Take That past and present were thrown into the mix with Gary Barlow and Jason Orange also mentioned. Howard was the strongest choice though, and as mentioned by the panel, he is a lot more into the dancing side of things than his bandmate Gary. Howard is probably the strongest choice of all the Carwash guesses – but he's also heavily linked to Zip, too...

Is Carwash Bruno Mars?

We can see why Bruno Mars had his name thrown into the mix as the dance steps did match what we have seen from Bruno a number of times – he has some serious moves. However, he is a huge international star based in America which would likely rule him out at the best of times, but especially while travel is restricted around the globe.

Is Carwash Lethal Bizzle?

Lethal Bizzle is a UK rapper and his skills with lyrics are undisputed. We could also picture him underneath that carwash suit and the mystery performer did give us vibes to make us think he is a strong possibility. We're still not sure whether his dance moves match what we saw onscreen, but hey – it could well be him!

Is Carwash Jay Kay?

While this show is pure insanity, Jay Kay is more of a fan of virtual mayhem as the lead singer of Jamiroquai. With that said, he has been known to bust some interesting moves over the years, so we can't rule him out. An outside choice this one but we do love Jay Kay – he was a hot favourite to be Badger in The Masked Singer but that turned out to be Ne-Yo. Maybe second time's the charm?
