With season seven of Game of Thrones hitting TV screens this weekend, the end is in sight for the smash-hit fantasy series.
But while some of the stars will doubtlessly be pleased to have a bit more spare time to pursue other acting projects now that the series is wrapping up, Daenerys Targaryen actress Emilia Clarke is feeling the pressure – because she feels like there’s still time for it all to go wrong.
“Oh God, I get sleepless nights over it,” Clarke told Elle in a new interview. “’Oh, you’re gonna mess it up. It’s the last season, and it’s going to go wrong.’”
She continued, “My mates are like, ‘It’s you – you [and Daenerys] are one and the same now. You need to trust your instincts!’ And I’m like, ‘ No, I’ve got to do more research!’ The higher everyone places the mantle, the bigger the fall.
“That sounds really awful, but it’s true! I don’t want to disappoint anyone.”
An admirable worry, really – but based on all the excitement we’ve seen teased for Dany in this series alone, we’re betting she doesn’t have too much to fret over.
