But at Edinburgh Television Festival earlier today, Discovery Network’s International chief creative officer Phil Craig revealed that while the series is almost certain to return, it is unlikely to retain its motoring theme.
“We are working on a second series, but not necessarily about cars,” he said. “We were really pleased with the first series – not a lot of movie stars let you into their lives in the way Idris did.
“The new show is likely to have the same title, but a different subject, a different set of challenges.”
Craig was speaking at the launch of a series of new shows by Discovery at the Edinburgh Television Festival.
These include a new survival series called Free Ride fronted by adventurer Rob Greenfield to air in winter 2016.
Former McLaren F1 mechanic Mark “Elvis” Priestley will also front a new show called Driving Wild for spring 2016. In it he will meet a series of daring motoring enthusiasts around the world and use his technical know-how to help them pull off various challenges and modify and customise an assortment of cars.
