Game Of Thrones’ Sophie Turner is mutant Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse

Alexandra Shipp has also been cast as Storm and Tye Sheridan will play Cyclops in the 2016 film

Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, has been confirmed as the telekenetic mutant Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, the superhero sequel to this year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.


Director Bryan Singer revealed the news on Twitter, also announcing that Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) will play Storm and Tye Sheridan (The Tree of Life) will take the part of Cyclops.  

In their roles as the three iconic mutants, Turner, Shipp and Sheridan will join James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac and Nicholas Hoult for what the third instalment of the X-Men trilogy.

Around the same time as Singer’s tweet, Turner tweeted a mysterious ‘OMG’, which her fans took to be excitement about being cast in her first blockbuster and wrote thousands of congratulatory messages in response.


Set in the 1980s, the film is expected to be based on 1995 comic miniseries Age of Apocalypse, in which the super-powered mutants of the X-Men series have enslaved humanity.
