So Game of Thrones returned to our TV screens yesterday.
After what felt like an absolute age – shouldn’t they be being a bit speedier if winter really is coming? – we were welcomed back to the world of Westeros.
So naturally we gave it our full and unadulterated attention, right? No, of course we didn’t. We took to Twitter instead.
To sing the theme tune…
Duh duh duhduhduh duh, duh duh duhhhh
Ah, the sweet sound of the #GameOfThrones opening credits! Notice any changes?
Season 4 starts NOW

Embrace the show’s questionable morals…
Game of Thrones: the only show that’ll make you feel bad when someone’s incestuous advances are repelled.
— Kumail Nanjiani (@kumailn) April 8, 2014
Express our love for new, evil Arya. And her parter in crime The Hound…
#GOT spinoff concept: The Hound and Arya’s Pub Crawl
— Dan Harmon (@danharmon) April 8, 2014
They really just need to rename Game of Thrones “The Hound and Arya Variety Hour” and no one would miss the rest
— Ian Brooks (@ZombieIanBrooks) April 8, 2014
Just watched the first episode of the new season of Game of Thrones. The Hound and Arya are badasses.
— Alex Smith (@alsmiffy) April 7, 2014
I named my daughter after Arya Stark and the decision was 100% justified last night.

Share confusion over the recasting of Daario Naharis…
Dany: where’s daario naharis? Barristan: being recast, your grace
— stannis lestrange ☣ (@staennis) April 7, 2014
Totally non-spoilery tweet: I’m genuinely heartbroken they recast Daario Naharis. New guy isn’t as hot and it was confusing.
— Meg Turney (@megturney) April 7, 2014
Second, what on earth happened to Daario Naharis? Replaced the perfect actor with the worst one ever. What’s up with this Good Guy Naharis?
— Riz-Wan Kenöbi (@MithayChawl) April 8, 2014
And praise for new face Oberon “The Red Viper” Martell…
(I love Prince Oberyn Martell)
— Grace Dent (@gracedent) April 7, 2014
I was REALLY looking forward to Oberon Martell. I am not disappointed. #GameOfThrones

Sometimes a lot of praise…
oberon martell i can’t stop thinking about you #GameOfThrones
— Daisy Watson (@fuckyouwatson) April 7, 2014
It might have been the start of a new series, but we also wanted to reiterate that we still hate Joffrey. Obviously.
If I had a hand made out of gold like Jaime Lannister I’d just use it to slap Joffrey and become a popular gif.
— Stormborn (@OhNoSheTwitnt) April 7, 2014
— Nerea Cierco (@ncierco) April 8, 2014
Even he (and by that we mean a parody account on Twitter) chipped in…
Less than 24 hours until Game of Thrones airs. I haven’t been this excited since I cut off Ned’s head!
— King Joffrey (@King_Joffrey_) April 6, 2014
That awkward moment when you realize Robb Stark won’t be making an appearance in Season 4…
— King Joffrey (@King_Joffrey_) April 7, 2014
But Joffrey aside, Twitter decreed that it was a good opening episode…
WATCHING GAME OF THRONES FINALLY I AM IN HEAVEN.
— BassCannonKaplan (@Avi_Kaplan) April 8, 2014
Apart from this guy. He just wasn’t that interested.
You can keep your Game of Thrones, I can’t wait for the new series of Miranda.

Game of Thrones continues on Mondays at 9:00pm on Sky Atlantic.
