Channel 4 to visit iconic London store Liberty in new documentary

Three-part series Making Liberty will follow employees at the renowned London emporium as it gears up for the Christmas season

Expect luxury, excess and lots and lots of scarves as Channel 4 go behind the scenes of London’s iconic Liberty store in a new three-part observational documentary.

Making Liberty will follow the Carnaby Street-based fashion, beauty and design emporium as it prepares for the busy Christmas season.

Following “charismatic rule-breaker” Ed Burstell, his right-hand woman Kate Brindley and their team of “self-confessed eccentrics”, the documentary will see the store’s buying team prepare the shop for the festivities, as well as meet the loyal shoppers who frequent the iconic store.

Channel 4’s commissioning editor for documentaries Emma Cooper said: “Liberty is the last bastion of eccentric, eclectic design and is jam-packed with a wonderful cast of colourful characters. Making Liberty will tell the everyday extraordinary stories of life within one of the world’s best-loved and well-known stores.”

The series will air on Channel 4 this autumn.
