Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell will not return as Kevin Webster until some time in the first half of next year, RadioTimes.com understands.
The 48-year-old actor, who was this week cleared of child sex charges, cannot appear on screen any sooner as storylines that take the ITV soap through to the early part of 2014 have already been planned out.
The character of Kevin has not been seen since February 2013, his absence explained by ex-wife Sally who revealed that he’d left for Germany in order to look after his sick father Bill who had suffered a heart attack.
On Monday, a jury of eight women and four men took just over four hours to clear Le Vell of a number of child sex abuse charges.
As he left Manchester Crown Court, the actor – who has appeared in Coronation Street for three decades – said that the result was “a weight off his shoulders”.
