GTA 6 could be getting a companion app, if a job listing by Rockstar North is any indication.

Previous Rockstar titles, such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5, had companion apps, so this doesn’t really come as a huge surprise, but what Rockstar could do with it for Grand Theft Auto 6 is perhaps a bit more interesting than what has come before.

In the GTA 5 companion app, you could mod cars and care for Lamar Davis's dog, Chop, and that was about it. But, seeing as GTA 6 is shown to have a very fleshed-out social media app, this could tie in nicely with your actual smartphone.

Perhaps we will be able to watch reels from the game, featuring infamous Leonidians as they get up to all sorts of shenanigans across Vice City and the wider map.

The ability to watch clips from other players would be incredible too, making GTA 6 feel more social in a way akin to such features as messages in Dark Souls or structures in Death Stranding.

During gameplay, we would love to see the ability that your phone could act as the in-game phone, allowing for better control, as well as enhanced immersion.

GTA 4 and 5 had multiple websites to visit in-game, many of which were very funny, but easily missed.

Being able to explore this aspect of the game when you’re away from it would a great, especially if it was synced to your progress through the game and showed you the latest reportage on Jason and Lucia’s deeds.

The pièce de la resistance for us, though, would be the ability to listen to the in-game radio stations, as there are so many that it requires dozens of hours played or multiple playthroughs to appreciate them all.

If a rumour surrounding earphones is anything to suggest, this doesn't feel completely out of the realm of reason, especially seeing as there is a dedicated Nintendo music app.

The bus ride to work would be a lot more bearable if we could listen to the unhinged rants of Lazlow Jones.

It would certainly be a step beyond what Nintendo is offering with the Zelda Notes app, not that that doesn’t provide some really cool features, such as autobuild sharing.

But all this is merely speculation and wishful thinking on our part. Only time will tell!
