EastEnders airs Kyle Slater’s final scenes – Riley Carter Millington leaves the cast

The Walford chef is now headed for France

Chef Kyle Slater’s final scenes have been broadcast on tonight’s EastEnders, with the character now headed to France to take on a new job.

Although Kyle didn’t get the traditional Walford black-cab exit, the BBC1 soap has confirmed to RadioTimes.com that this evening’s episode did indeed feature his final appearance, with actor Riley Carter Millington having now left the cast.

Viewers saw Kyle cook one of his famous duck lasagnes for the Fowler clan before former boss Ian Beale also turned up with a farewell bottle of wine. Stacey also presented Kyle with a framed photo of the family, so he could remember life in Albert Square.

It was announced back in September that Riley Carter Millington was to leave the show, with show bosses believing that a ‘natural end’ has been reached for Kyle.

Speaking at the time, the actor –  the first transgender male actor to play a transgender character on a UK soap – said:

“When I landed a six-month contract at EastEnders it was a dream come true. For that to be extended to a year was something I never expected.

“However, as the time comes for Kyle to depart Walford I am looking forward to taking on new roles and who knows, Kyle may find his way back to Walford one day.”

Riley Carter Millington will be seen next on TLC’s Celebrity Fat Fighters, alongside such stars as Jennifer Ellison and Gogglebox’s Sandi Bogle.
