Warren Fox’s son Joel Dexter makes a return to Chester next week in Hollyoaks, and he’s quite the reformed character. Having left the soap in 2013 after trying to pinch large sums of money and being chased off by Brendan Brady, he has since found God and returns as a trainee priest!
Originally played by Andrew Still, the character has been recast and will be played by Rory Douglas Speed. Speaking of his new role, Speed said: “I’m super chuffed to be a part of such a well-known and well received show. I’m really excited to see how the character develops and hopefully I can bring a performance that replicates the intricate writing.”
Joel arrives in Hollyoaks during ‘Point of View Week’, a special run of five episodes which all take place on the same day but are viewed from the perspective of multiple characters involved in Patrick’s murder case. Ryan intends to use Joel to coax a confession out of Warren.
He is described as ‘a friendly and approachable priest who will keep even the darkest confessions a secret’, but who will confess their sins to him? Despite his strong moral code, Joel is set to be tested to the limits when he reunites with his decidedly un-Christian father Warren.
Will sparks fly when Joel encounters his dad? And what will the consequences of his role in ‘Point of View Week’ be?
