Our Score
Plot points and characters from the classic 1967 Space Seed TV episode have served the Star Trek film series well, and they appear again in this thrill-a-minute blockbuster from returning director JJ Abrams. Benedict Cumberbatch is sensational as the rogue Starfleet officer who turns intergalactic terrorist, prompting the Enterprise crew to track him to the planet Kronos where the Klingons are on war alert. The story is built primarily around the burgeoning friendship between Kirk (Chris Pine, more relaxed in his iconic role) and Spock (Zachary Quinto, finding the perfect Vulcan balance of logic and emotion), which means that other key characters are either sidelined or, in the case of Alice Eve's new recruit, weakly drawn. But Abrams pulls out all the action stops, beginning in full-throttle adventure mode and sustaining the warp-speed spectacle all the way through to the epic finale in San Francisco.

Summary

Captain Kirk and the crew of the starship Enterprise are sent on a clandestine mission into enemy territory to track down the rogue starfleet agent behind a terrorist attack on Earth. However, the assignment brings to light a hidden threat from within their own organisation. Sci-fi adventure sequel, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Benedict Cumberbatch.
