The Angry Birds Movie 2

The sequel to the 2016 animated comedy sees feathered hero Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis) and his friends forced to team up with their archenemies, the pigs, to fight a new foe that threatens them both. As with the first film, story is not really top of the list of priorities as we are thrown into a colourful world of gags, pratfalls, and pandemonium. The formula worked the first time and for the most part works here, as the quick-fire script distracts from the occasional plot hole. The sequel is also blessed with an incredible voice cast, with the stand-out being Leslie Jones's villain, a maniacal eagle with an outlandish secret lair. Returning cast members Sudeikis and Bill Hader also build on their roles, creating a fun dynamic between surly Red and his arrogant porcine nemesis, Leonard. What The Angry Birds Movie 2 lacks in structure, it makes up for in laughs in a film that refuses to take itself seriously, and invites you to do the same.
