Summary
Steve leads a team on a mission to climb a remote mountain in the Stauning Alps of Greenland, crossing a vast river and skiing across a glacier.
Review
Steve Backshall and the gang are back in Greenland preparing to scale the Stauning Alps. As well as safety adviser Aldo Kane, he has two mountaineers who are experts in “remote and hostile ascents”.
They need huge amounts of kit to make an exhausting journey – the bit where everyone trudges uphill through thick snow on skis might leave you breathing into a paper bag.
As the sweat freezes on Aldo Kane’s face, the group prepares for the ascent, but it’s like climbing a Cadbury’s Flake as dry rocks shear away, making any footholds difficult and possibly deadly. At the end, a tearful Backshall pays a sweet tribute to his unborn son.
