Erotic thriller starring Anne Heche as banker and part-time call girl Alex whose life is turned upside down when she meets big-time money launderer Bruno Buckingham (Christopher Walken).
In this erotic thriller, Anne Heche stars as Alex, a banker who also works as a call girl to make ends meet. But an encounter with infamous money launderer Bruno (Christopher Walken) leads to an affair with his wife (Joan Chen) and involvement in an undercover FBI operation. The fourth and final film made by director Donald Cammell (Performance), this was re-cut without his permission and released on cable in a severely truncated form (he was credited as Franklin Brauner). Cammell killed hilself shortly afterwards, and his widow China Kong and longtime editor Frank Mazzola have here reconstructed a seemingly improvised pulp thriller that's closer to the director's original vision. It won't be to everyone's taste - there's a particularly brutal rape scene as well as a tendency for the story to ramble - yet it stands as a compelling piece of cinema from a sadly underused talent.
